Big Tents for Big Family Fun

Posted on 19 July 2010

Camping season is in full swing and you will want to be comfortable out in the wilderness. If you have a large family or just a lot of friends, you will want to research different big tents for your next trip. A large tent will help everyone to be a bit more comfortable on your next camping trip. Consider the following types of big camping tents for your next purchase.

One option is Swiss Gear’s Montreaux ten-person family dome tent. This tent features a sewn-in divider to create two separate living areas. There are also two side rooms off the main tent for storage and four windows. This model retails for around $250.00.

Another large tent to consider is the Perry Mesa, an eight-person 14-by-10-foot option by Paha Que Wilderness. This model is 100% waterproof, with a screen room, two large doors, three windows and awnings on all three sides of the screen room. This tent retails for around $550.00.

One of the largest of all the large family tents on the market today is the 13-person Combo Camping Tent by Camping Equipment Co. A combination of their axis tent and three zulu tents (that attach to the main axis tent), this setup retails for about $550.00, when purchased together. The features of this combination tent include a fully waterproof exterior with mesh vents built into the rainfly to keep air flowing through the tent. A glow-in-the-dark logo on the side of this tent will help you find your way back to your sleeping bag at night.

If none of these models suffice, check out other options from the same companies, as they specialize in large tents and you should be able to find what you are looking for in their available lines. Whatever model you decide to choose, just be sure to allow for extra room for your camping gear, supplies and living space.
