The weight loss industry and the diet industry is big business not just in the United States of America but in many countries all over the world. According to a research company in Florida, Americans spent more than $48 billion in the efforts to lose weight and have better looking bodies. There are various types of diets today, and some of them work but others do not do anything at all. One of the most popular diets today is the 1500 calorie diet. It is now more confusing for people to choose diets that work because of the staggering number of products available today.
Here is a brief list of some of the diets which experts and consumers alike rate as the best. Some of them are old and some of them are new.

Glycemic Index Diet: This is a diet which is very popular among diabetics. What this diet does is rank carbohydrates and their effects on the glucose levels of the blood. What it aims to do is to keep the blood glucose level balanced all throughout the day. When you are on this diet, some of the foods to consume are vegetables, fruits, whole grains and bran.
Macrobiotic Diet: This is a low-fat and a high-fiber diet. This is also a diet which is focused on the physical well-being of a person, as well as spiritual well-being. This is more of a vegetarian diet and the food for this diet includes fruits and vegetables, beans, seeds and brown rice.
Organic: Organic diets are comprised of organic food. This diet is free from sweets, preservatives and pesticides. The diet includes pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, free-range eggs and hormone-free milk.
Raw Foods: This diet means consuming uncooked food because of the notion that heating food destroys nutrients. This includes sashimi, vegetables and fruits.
Sonoma Diet: This is based on the cuisine of a place which is also named Sonoma. This diet focuses on power foods and has three phases. This includes broccoli, grapes, feta cheese, almonds, peppers and many more.
