One of the most important aspects of attending law school for any person is preparation for the bar exam that they have to take a few months after graduating from law school. This is an important test for a number of reasons and obviously because a person cannot legally be considered to be a lawyer until they have passed the bar in the state under which they are trying to practice the law. This is something that a person should think about when choosing a law school as it can affect it in several ways. Finding a good law tutor during this process can be a big advantage as well.
First of all, most states have different bar exams because the bar exam asks about the laws that a person needs to know once they become a lawyer, and each state has a different set of laws so the bar exam will be different for each state that any person would take it in. This is something that a person should consider when going to school because if a person goes to school in a state that they then want to take the bar exam for, then they will learn about the laws of that state throughout the three years of their education. If a person, however, decides to go to a law school in a state different from one in which they wish to take the bar exam and practice law, this can certainly put them at a slight disadvantage as they will have to learn everything in that small two to three month period when they are intensely studying for the bar exam.
Another thing that a person should look at when they are considering which law school that they wish to go to, is what the bar passage rate is by students that graduate from that school. This is something that can be a tell tale sign of the level of education at that school, as if the bar passage rate is high then a person can feel as though they are going to receive a good enough legal education to prepare them to think like a lawyer, law schools that do not have a high bar passage rate can lead a person to infer that the legal education system is just not as strong at that particular schools as it is at others or as it should be to make its students ready to be lawyers upon graduation.
While the bar is a long way off for students just applying to get into law school it is not something that should be left completely out of the consideration of which law school they should attend.
