Tags: , , , ,

A wood lathe is a machine that is utilized for crafting a piece of wood.  A wood lathe spins the piece of wood at a variable high rate of speed while you use wood chisels to craft and shape the piece of wood.  This form of crafting wood allows you to create a variety of objects from elaborate table legs to simple wooden spindles and everything in between.

A wood lathe works on the principal that you can place variable sized pieces of wood in a horizontal position between two clamps, or dogs, of some sort that will hold the wood in place while it spins in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.  Wood chisels have characteristically shaped cutting edges and sizes based on how large of a cut you plan to make in the wood.  Wood chisels have either a metal or wood handle with a sharp edge that is used for cutting or carving the wood.

Working with the best wood lathe and the best wood chisels isn’t all that difficult.  It just requires a steady hand, an imagination of creativity, and practice.  By forcing the wood chisels into the wood you will carve a gouge into the wood.  This force is usually manually applied, but using a mallet or hammer can be utilized as well.  When working in an industrial environment a hydraulic ram will be used instead.

Be sure to read the safety manual before utilizing a wood lathe and wood chisels to avoid careless injuries.  Working with wood lathe and wood chisels has a tendency to allow pieces of wood to fly around.  No need to accidentally injuring an eye with flying pieces of wood do to the carelessness of working with a wood lathe and wood chisels. Always wear safety glasses and work gloves when working with workshop machinery.

The whole point of a built in cabinet is to put it into a recess since it the one piece of furniture that I know of which provides you with the most optimal use of any carpentry technology know to man! Talking about kitchens specifically, you can use a built in cabinet’s glass cabinet sections to store up on all the fine china that you would like to show off to your friends and then use the drawers under that to get your forks and spoons in order. If your forks are anything like mine you will end up with a lot of rattling cutlery and in that case you should get yourself a plastic drawer insert to use instead.
