If you are like most Americans you have tried at least fifteen different diets over the years in order to lose weight. Some of them may have worked short term but if you did lose any weight then it probably was back on within 18 months, along with even more. This is the pattern that most people experience when they try to lose weight with a short term diet.
What you really should do is concentrate on changing your entire lifestyle in order to drop the pounds and then keep them off. One way to do this is choose the low carb foods lifestyle. The idea behind this way of eating is really quite easy to understand. You cut out all sugar and starch from your diet and then eat mostly green vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and a small amount of nuts. By choosing several different choices from each of these food groups you can put together interesting meals that will keep you on track.
In order to make this eating style work you need to be sure to go cold turkey on the sugar. This is really like poison to our bodies so there is no reason to eat it anyway, but when you are trying to lose weight it can side rail your best efforts. Also, eat protein at every meal along with a snack between meals. This keeps you feeling full and also keep your body burning fat. Lastly, be sure to drink a lot of water. One gallon a day is the absolute minimum you should be drinking. I usually try for closer to two gallons by drinking it at every opportunity I have.
If you are serious about weight loss then you really should be looking at the low carb lifestyle. It is easy to follow and once you have been on it for a week or two, the pounds will start to melt off.
